Warriors Tie Guelph In Final Exhibition The Wayne State University women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 overtime tie Saturday afternoon (Oct. 12) against the visiting Guelph Gryphons at City Sports Center in Detroit. Guelph grabbed a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when Lindsay Trimble scored her second goal of the weekend. WSU freshmen Rachel Beninger(Huntington Beach, Calif.) scored the Warriors first goal to tie the game at one. Sophomore Brooke Sharrard (South Lyon, Mich.) scored the Warriors second goal off assists from Kelly Meech (Coquitlam, B.C.) and Kelly Zamora (Oshawa, Ont.). Guelph's Laura Mills scored to send the game into overtime where neither team was able to tally the game-winner. Wayne State begins its regular season this Friday, Oct. 18 when the Colgate Red Raiders visit City Sports Center for the first of a two-game weekend series. |
