WSU Earns First Regular Season Win

DETROIT – The Wayne State University women's hockey team won its first game of the season as they defeated Colgate, 2-1, Saturday (Oct. 19) at City Sports Center in Detroit.

Heidi Burns scored the first goal for the Warriors 13 minutes into the first period with an assist going to Katie Jones. Kim Spaulding scored the second goal for the Warriors in the first period with an assist going to Kelly Zamora.

Cheryl Setchell scored Colgate's first and only goal of the game in the third period.

Tina Thibideau had 22 saves for the Warriors while Rebecca Lahar had 20 for Colgate.

The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, Oct. 26, with a College Hockey America Women contest at Niagara. Face-off is slated for 3 p.m.
