Warriors Drop Season-Opener To Colgate

DETROIT – The Wayne State University women's hockey team lost to its regular-season opener against Colgate, 2-1, Friday, Oct. 18 at the City Sports Center in Detroit.

Colgate took the early led when Amanda Barre scored six minutes into the first period. The Warriors evened up the score in the second period when Cheryl Anderson (N. St.Paul, Minnesota) scored WSU's first goal of the season. Avery McGlenn put the puck past WSU goalie, Anna VanderMarliere, making the final score 2-1.

VanderMarliere had 25 saves for the Warriors while Rebecca Lahar had 34 in the win for Colgate.

The Warriors and Red Raiders conclude the weekend series with a 2 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the City Sports Center.
