WSU Softball Tournament Cancelled Detroit, Mich. – The Wayne State softball tournament, scheduled for March 23-24 (Saturday-Sunday) in Detroit, has been cancelled due to the forecast. The tournament will not be rescheduled. The Warriors will return to action on Friday, March 29, when they host a doubleheader against Mercyhurst at 3 p.m. March 21, 2002 Wayne State Picked Second In Detroit, Mich. – The Wayne State softball team was picked second among 11 teams in the inaugural GLIAC preseason poll, which was released on Thursday (March 21). The Warriors tallied 91 points and five first-place votes, which trails defending champion Grand Valley by four points (95 pts.). Ashland (86), Gannon (72) and Findlay (59) round out the top five spots in the poll. Each of the GLIAC’s 11 coaches ranked the teams in the conference, but were not allowed to vote for their own team. The first-place team on the ballot received 10 points, while the second-place team received nine points, etc. WSU finished second in the GLIAC last season with a 37-20 overall record and a 15-5 mark in the league. The Warriors are currently 11-11 this season.
