Warriors Finish 14th
at NCAA Championships

With only two Warriors competing, Wayne State men's swimming finished 14th out of 60 teams at the NCAA Championships held in Canton, Ohio last weekend (March 14-17).

Freshman David Collins (Huddersfield, England) set two school records and earned two All-American honors at the meet. Going into the meet, Collins ranked seventh in the 100 breaststroke and 10th in the 200 breaststroke, but proved that rankings are just on paper. In the 100 breaststroke, Collins finished third with a 57.11 time (WSU school record) to earn his first All-American honors. In the 200 breaststroke, Collins set a school record in his preliminary swim with a 2:05.48 time. In the finals, Collins swam a 2:06.70 to finish seventh and earned his second All-American award.

On the diving board, freshman Chris Totten (Garden City, MI) also earned two All-American awards as he finished fourth on the one-meter and sixth on the three- meter boards.

"To have us finish in the top 15 with only two freshman shows how good our program can and will be in the future," said head coach Sean Peters. "I'm so proud of both of our athletes as they both finished in the top 10 in their events. They did a tremendous job at the championships!"
