Warriors Place Second At Cardinal Classic The Wayne State University men's cross country team placed second out of 18 teams in the 2002 Cardinal Cross Country Classic (8,000m) held on Oct. 5 in Louisville, Ky. The Warriors had a team score of 76. Samford won the Classic with 50 points. Trailing WSU were Southern Indiana (88), UT-Chattanooga (104), Otterbein and Murray State (144). Leading WSU was junior Brian Goodwin (Dearborn Hts., Mich./Annapolis), who placed fifth in a time of 25:23.00. Placing ninth was junior Mike Buslepp (Warren, Mich./Cousino) with a time of 25:35.00. Senior Ed Garza (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt) placed 12th in a time of 25:40.00. Also scoring for the Warriors were freshman Justin Kessler (Ionia, Mich.), who placed 19th in a time of 25:57.00, and sophomore Mark Moher (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names), who placed 31st with a time of 26:15.00. Also competing for WSU were senior Ryan Molloy (Dearborn Hts., Mich./Annapolis), who placed 33rd in a time of 26:19, freshman Parker Roth (27:05), junior Charlie Stamboulian (27:24). The men's cross country squad will co-host the Michigan Intercollegiate on Friday (Oct. 11) at Kensington Metropark in Milford. |
