WSU Football In National Rankings The Wayne State University football team appears in one national category plus has individuals in five categories. The Warriors are tied for sixth in the nation in turnover margin at +3. WSU had four takeaways at Northern Iowa while losing just one fumble. Individually, punter Adam Nemer-Kaiser is 25th in the nation at 41.45 yards per punt. Cornerback Alvin Mask is tied-for-13th in NCAA Division II football with 1.00 interceptions per game. He is also tied-for-32nd with 2.00 passes defended per game (includes pass breakups and interceptions). Safety Qasim Basir is tied-for-20th in the country with 12 total tackles per game. Linebacker Mike Macek, Mask, and defensive lineman Leo Wells are all tied-for-seventh in the nation with 1.00 forced fumbles per game. Wayne State begins the conference portion of its schedule this Saturday at Findlay. Kickoff for the GLIAC contest is slated for 6 p.m. The Warriors home opener is September 21 against No. 1-ranked Grand Valley State. Kickoff at WSU Stadium is set for noon. |
